Learning the variances between the two most common dress pant styles will give you a tailored benefit against the inexperienced. It will also prevent you from committing a style blunder in public. Let’s explore the differences more. Dress Pants Style During the early 2000s’, loose was out of stye and skinny was in style. Slim profiles were the shape of choice, and with it came the modern flat-front pants and slimmed down legs that lead into a no-break hem. You need to ask yourself: the slim-fit flat-front camp or the loose-cut pleated camp? What Is The Purpose Of Pleats? Other than aesthetic differences, pleated dress pants have a practical efficacy that sets them apart from flat front possibilities. When you sit, your seat and thighs naturally widen. Pleated dress pants can adjust to this change better as the pleats spread to ease the pressure on seams and improve your general comfort. Pleats also offer you extra room and more freedom of movement when you are walking, taking the stairs, crouching, or dancing the night away at an event. Choosing Pleated Dress Pants Comfort, room and flexibility are what pleated dress pants are made for. They are good for active occasions that require for more movement or if you have to experience a long commute. Pleated pants are also the best option for larger gentlemen and athletic body types with muscular legs. Pleated dress pants are a more traditional look when looking at it from a style point of view.  Choosing Flat Front Dress Pants Style over function is prioritised in flat front dress pants. Due to their snugger and slenderer cut, they are most flattering on thinner and average body types. Flat front dress pants have come to be the favoured look in recent time. Unless you need the pleats for comfort, we would endorse flat front to most gentlemen in most situations. If you are looking for a tailor in London, trust the experts at Exclusive Alterations. ...

Once you have invested money in a suit, you also want to make sure that it wasn’t a waste and make it last as long as possible. Here are some tips to make sure your suit lasts longer. 1. CLEANING You should only clean your suit when it is visibly dirty or starting to smell – meaning that you possibly spilled something on it, or you have sweat through it. The majority of suits are dry-clean-only, and you should not over dry-clean a garment. Dry cleaning is a chemical wash that can wear down the fabric if you do it too often. The fibre begins to weaken, and your suit will not last as long. If your suit simply needs a “refresher”, you should have it professionally pressed. This is less expensive than dry-cleaning, and the heat and steam will eliminate most of the bacteria and clean it adequately in most cases. 2. IRONING/STEAMING It is a wise idea to steam or your suit either before or after each wear.  This means that it will return to its natural state and fit.  This can be as simple as hanging the suit in the bathroom when you take a hot shower. If you intend to iron your suit yourself, ensure the use of a pressing cloth (which is a piece of cloth, normally cotton, between the hot metal of the iron and the fabric of the suit).  If you put the hot iron directly on the fabric, you risk scorching the fabric. 3. STORING You should hang up your suit immediately once you take it off.  It shouldn’t be thrown in the hamper, over a chair or on the ground.  Instead hang it on a proper hanger with a pant bar and full shoulder.  This will allow it to keep its original shape, and help it last longer. When storing it for a longer time (such as seasonally), you should keep your suit in a protective garment bag or plastic cover, with a cedar hanger to ensure that the moths are kept away. 4. GIVE IT A BREAK You should try not to wear your suit for two days in a tow.  Just like shoes, it is a wise idea to give the garment time to fully dry and air out. 5. ALTERING If your body changes shape and the suit is not fitting as well as it could, consider getting it altered by a professional tailor. A properly adjusted fit should not just look and feel good, it also helps a garment last for a longer time. A garment that is ill-fitting can “pull” gawkily on the fabric with movement, causing strain. Strain can lead to tears in your suit. 6. FIXING TEARS If a seam is ripped, it isn’t a large problem.  You could simply have one of the experts at Exclusive Alterations re-sew it together.  If a seam is ripped off, you might have to consider re-weaving, but in this case, there will be a scar left on the fabric. A white suit is a unique choice for those who like to stand out, and perhaps got a bit bored of the classical black style. Here are four tips to make you and your suit stand out. 1. Wear the Right Shoes The majority of suit wearers assume that white shoes are the best choice, they may think like this due to the choice of black shoes being worn with black suits. The matching white garments, however, do not go well together. Wearing white shoes will make it seem like you are wearing a tall boot, and not a pretty sight either. Rather opt for something that contrasts with the colour.  Darker colours, such as all-black shoes, are the way to go. Brown is also an option. 2. Press the White Suit White suits show wrinkles and creases much easier than their darker counterparts. The last thing you want to happen is to wear your white suit to a special event, only to later discover that you look like pieces or stacked paper. To circumvent an embarrassing moment, check the label on your suit and iron it of you are allowed to. If it doesn't support ironing, then opt for the dry cleaners. It's a more expensive option, but it is money well spent. 3. Avoid a White Shirt Like the above advice of avoiding wearing white shoes, the notion stands for white shirts as well. The shirt will make it look like you are wearing a one piece. Wearing a darker colour that matches your shoes are the way to go for a bold look that will impress anyone. Just like how you should avoid wearing white shoes, you should also avoid wearing a white shirt under the suit. Doing so will make everything look blended into one piece, and nothing about that is aesthetically pleasing. Because of that, wear a dark colour instead of a shirt. If you want to keep a simple theme, wear a dark colour that matches your dark-coloured shoes. It will create a bold look that will impress everybody. 4. Watch Out for Stains Stains are a regular issue when it comes to wearing white. The light fabric quickly shows stains, and much more obviously than other colours. When you are out on the town, avoid situations where you might end up with a stained suit, and keep a pack of wet wipes close by for easy stain removal. A white suit makes a statement and shows just how fearless an individual is. For your very own tailored white suit, contact the Exclusive Alterations team. ...

Many wedding dresses and formal garments have a large seam allowance, and it is entirely impossible to let out the seams if your seam allowance is smaller than 1/4′′. The decision is ultimately up to you, and you will have to weigh the alternatives. To determine whether or not your dress has to be let out, think about how the dress should fit first, especially if you have opted for a sleeveless dress, you need to make sure that it fits tight enough so it doesn’t fall down. Do not try to alter your dress yourself, as this will only cause more stress and embarrassment to you, something that a bride definitely does not need. You have to make sure to measure the dress first, then take it to a tailor or seamstress. First, you have measure your bust area. If it is too tight in the bust area, then you will need to take two measurements - one around the bust and one around the waist. Note down the difference between the two measurements and subtract the first measurement from the second. Once the measurements are done, you may start with the alterations.   If it is the seams on your wedding gown that are too tight, you can consider releasing them. Your seamstress will need to remove the stitching on both lateral seams (that is the seams under the arms) to make your dress wider.  The larger the alteration, the more time it will take to do, and this is something to Zipper Extender or Corset Back Wedding Dress Alteration  Furthermore, your seamstress or tailor can opt to add a zipper extension to the back of your dress. A corset back might be the best idea if you don't have enough seam allowance to make the dress bigger. For the finishing touch, your seamstress may add an additional piece of material taken from the bottom of your gown to the inner seams below your arms. Your choice of sleeves for your wedding dress is one that determines the style of your big day. It is also determined by the season in which you are getting married, as no bride wants to be freezing on the day where she demands all the attention. There are four different types of sleeves: long, quarter, cap, and short. Each type brings a certain flair to the day. Take a look at the options below before you finalise your choice. 1) Cap Sleeves Wedding Dress Regardless of your dress' length or design, cap sleeves are easily recognisable by the manner in which they cover your shoulders' natural contours. The common style is small, rounded sleeves that are attached to the top of your dress, but do not go past your elbows. These types of sleeves are ideal for brides who want to lend an air of femininity to their look without their arms looking bare or exposed, especially during the winter months, and also fabricates a slimming effect on the upper body. Dresses with cap sleeves are normally made from chiffon, which is a lightweight fabric that allows for airflow, keeping the bride cool throughout the day. It's also very flattering; your curves are highlighted without leaving too much skin exposed. Cap sleeves look good with more informal styled wedding dresses, but they also look stylish with more traditionally styled wedding gowns. 2) Short Sleeves Wedding Dress Seeing short sleeves is more common than cap sleeves due to their length. Short sleeves are longer than cap sleeves and end at the elbow. This type of sleeve provides the bride extra coverage and some modesty. Short sleeves do come in various styles, but are more often than not flat and form-fitting. Short sleeves look the best with dresses that flow straight down. 3) Three Quarter Sleeve Wedding Gown These sleeves normally extend past your wrist and elbow, giving your wedding gown an elegant and traditional style. This style of sleeve is a popular choice for modern brides. It can be worn with a V-neck sleeveless dress, or a strapless mermaid dress. 4) Long Sleeve Wedding Gown This is a classic and timeless choice, but it doesn't mean that they can't be modernised. Long sleeves are ideal for winter weddings, as they will keep you warm, but it also gives the dress a flirty touch of flesh below. Long sleeves look great with a floating dress. Numerous brides opt for long sleeves over short and sleeveless styles, due to the fact that they offer more coverage as well as options for adornment. The ultimate choice of sleeve is up the bride's personal taste. The expert team at Exclusive Alterations will work with you to create a wedding gown that showcases your style and preferences. We will also give recommendations on details like embellishments, patterns, fabrics, and colours to make your wedding dress stand out. ...

After the bride has chosen the wedding dress of her dreams, the next choice is the wedding veil. It is the final touch, the one that will complete the look. Here are the five most popular types of long wedding veils for traditional church wedding ceremonies. 1. The Church Veil Also known as the chapel or the congregational veil, this classic piece simply oozes with elegance. They are a bit shorter than cathedral veils, so they are normally worn by ladies who want to have the appearance of a trail without really having one. It's popular amongst boho brides. 2. Fingertip Veil This type of veil looks good with almost every kind of dress, which is why it is a popular option for brides. It isn't as long as the church veil, and only reaches the end of your fingertips, hence the name. It also looks stylish when paired with floral dresses or crystal hairpins. 3. The Cathedral Veil This type of veil is the longest option available, giving the bride wearing this a regal look. A cathedral veil can be embellished with lace around the edges for depth and density in order to preserve its shape when one walks down the aisle. 4. Waltz Veil Also known as the ballerina veil or the ankle-length veil, a waltz veil is shorter than a cathedral veil. It is referred to as the ballerina and waltz veil, because it comes from a period where the brides' dance was a very important element of the wedding. Due to this veil being lighter than the others, a bride may wear it from the ceremony to the banquet without fear of tripping. 5. Mantilla Veil Also known as a Spanish veil, this veil is a one-tiered veil that loans a traditional touch to your perfect wedding dress. Made from either lace or lace-edged Organza, the veil has a thick border and embellishments running down the front. At Exclusive Alterations we offer a broad variety of bridal veil alterations, from reducing the length to increasing volume and adjusting the veil to the design of your dress. ...

Every bride has a vague idea of what her ideal wedding dress hem looks like.  It’s ultimately up to personal taste, but there are some styles and ideas that are popular.  The perfect hem should be only slightly touching the floor; this ensure that you do not trip or stumble when in your gown. Here are some frequently asked questions on wedding dress hems. Will my shoes be visible once my dress has been hemmed? This depends on the shape of your wedding dress.  In the majority of case, you will not be able to see your shoes when standing erect.  You should only see them when you take a step. Will my train be cut off when my dress is hemmed? There is no need to trim any fabric from your train unless that is what you want. The front hem will have a small amount of material cut off when it is tailored in order to finish the front hem. What if I go from high heels to flats for my wedding reception? Flat shoes are increasingly popular in the modern times.  However, you need to remember that hemming will here be the most difficult part.  It is advised that the bride wears shoes with the same heel heigh during her big day.  You can choose whether or not to wear flats or heels all day.  Going from heels to flat will mean that your dress will be too long during the ceremony and the festivities. Going from flats to heels will have the opposite effect – switching to heels for the banquet will give you more freedom to dance, but your shoes will be visible. The front border of the longest side should be one inch off the floor, to give the bride enough room to walk without fear of falling or stumbling. How do tailors at Scorpio Atelier hem a dress with lace or beaded hem? Our professional team knows how to uplift beading and lace trim on the bottom of the dress.  After lace and beading are remove, the dress is hemmed and fabric is replaced. It is time-consuming aspect of altering a wedding gown.  Nearly every wedding gown can be hemmed, but it is vital to consult your tailor first, as some alterations might be more costly than others. ...

Donning your dream wedding gown only to find that it is too big for you, might be frustrating and disappointing.  However, there are options on what you can do to make sure you not only wear the dress of your dreams, but also look like a dream. Bust Alterations  Safety pins usually do the trick when it comes to bust alterations.  A little cutting here and there might also be necessary.  Experts at Exclusive Alterations are careful with the dimensions, making sure that your dress doesn’t end up being too small. We first measure the desired width for your bust, then subtract it from the current size, divide it by four, and remove the extra fabric from all four sides, and leave a little margin to attach the pieces.  Once the pieces are reattached, your dress will fit you nicely. It is also possible to get a bust custom-made, cut and sewed to your liking.  This implied that the bust cannot be modified, and requires a seamstress with a higher level of experience.  The breast is a sensitive area, and even small mistakes could ruin the garment. Waistline Alterations The waist is an important feature of your wedding dress despite its simplicity, since it is there to highlight the silhouette, and there are a few customisation options. The Excusive Alterations experts use needles and thread or safety pins to hold the waist in place, and a needle and thread to mark the fabric and sew it in. The waistline is a place where a bulge might be visible, despite how it is to have altered.  We measure your current waist circumference to determine if that is where the problem lies.  If it is the case, we remove the extra fabric from each of the four areas and put them back together. Belts are also a viable option for waistline alterations, being one of the more cost-effects ways to hide a larger waistline.  If you get a belt that matches the garment, you can wrap it over for a perfect fit! If you think that your measurements might change after your first fitting, you can request, as an alternative, a zipper for a corset back.  Even though this service does come with an extra fee, the money will be well spent. Our experts advise taking two sets of measurements six months apart for tailored wedding gowns.   Be aware that the probability of you fitting perfectly into your sample wedding dress is limited.   Ensure that your fitting goes well by taking the undergarment that you intend to wear to the fitting, as well as your shoes. Contact experts at Exclusive Alterations for more information about the wedding dress alteration costs and timelines. ...

Buying an off-the-rack suit may be frowned upon by the fashion-forward, but the truth is that it can be a great way to find a quick get-up for a formal event. Buying a suit off-the-rack may not be recommended by the fashion-forward, but it is a good option when you are in need of a suit but short on both time and money. You wouldn't fare well if you simply picked a random jacket and wore it straight to your event. Wearing an ill-fitting suit is only slightly better than arriving naked. However, finding a suit jacket that fits your body well is not impossible. Here is our guide to purchasing an off-the-rack suit jacket that looks and feels nice. 1) Shoulders to Shoulders An important factor to consider when looking at a suit jacket is the shoulder span. Tailors agree that the shoulders of any jacket should end at your shoulders; anything longer will take away from the definition of your frame, and anything too short will be uncomfortable to wear. 2) Hand to Chest The next thing to look for would be the chest fit of your suit jacket. A simple way to check would be to slip your flat hand into the suit, under the lapels, with the top button fastened. If you ball your hand up into a fist, then the suit should pull at the fastened button. 3) Sleeve to Wrist Another obvious checkpoint in your quest for an off-the-rack suit is the sleeve length. A short sleeve will look awkward when worn over a dress shirt, whilst a a long sleeve would cover your dress shirt entirely. Your jacket sleeves should fall to the point where the base of your thumb connects with your wrist. Some tailors would fashion it a bit shorter as well in case you would like to wear a watch to show off. 4) Button to Navel  A less popular known styling detail when wearing a suit jacket is where the buttons are positioned. The top button of a two-button suit or the middle button of a three-button suit should never reach below the navel. 5) Knuckles to Bottom  The final size factor to look at would be the full length of your jacket. It might variate depending on style, but you would commonly aim for a length where the bottom of your suit jackets is level with your knuckles. 6) Patterned to Finish  Once you are satisfied that the size fits your body nicely, taking a look at your overall outfit would finish the look. The colour and thread pattern of your pants should match your jacket, and your dress shirt should either contrast with the rest of your outfit or blend into it. Your shoes should also be the same colour and style as your belt, as well as colour-matched with the rest of your suit. Conclusion These six simple tailoring tips can make choosing your off-the-rack suit a highly fashionable style choice. If you want to leave a lasting impression on any business trip, be sure to pack your suit. Dressing with power will not only command respect, but also get undivided attentions from those that you meet. Your attire is not only a reflection of yourself, but also your company and the importance that they link to these meetings. However, wearing a suit when your meeting is in an area with a tropical climate can be a struggle. A black polyester suit and the sweltering summer heat is definitely not a perfect match. Instead opt for a wool suit that will allow your body to stay ventilated and cool. It is also an admittedly more comfortable option than polyester. Here are our tips for staying cool in the summer heat. Keep hydrated It's obvious that water helps to regulate your body's temperature. Three litres per day, or roughly 13 glasses, is the recommended daily intake. It is, however, difficult to keep track of how much water you’re are taking in if you measuring it in cups. Instead, bring a one-litre bottle, fill it up, and empty it thrice. Wear suits with open weave fabric  Suits made from silk, wool and linen are good for air circulation and to keep you comfortable. Wool is highly absorbent and quickly dries up wetness. It's a light fabric that's appropriate for humid weather. It's also best to use silk ties to fight off the hot feeling around your neck. The fabric normally does not handle sweat well, but it's good for smaller areas. It is, however, a breathable fabric (first used by the ancient Egyptians). Go for an unlined or half-lined suit jacket  The majority of jackets have an interior made of silk, making it easy to put on and take off. It might look chic, but isn't advisable for a tropical climate. Opt for an unlined suit or a half-lined suit that will allow your body to breathe. Stay away from fabrics like polyester or viscose; their synthetic fibre linings block airflow. The lighter, the better The colour of your suit also determines the amount of heat that is absorbs. Darker colours absorb more heat than lighter ones. So, ditch the black suit and rather go for grey, soft blue or tan options.  No suit, no problem  If you don't have a suit that's suited for tropical weather, why not consider getting one made in London? Find the perfectly fitted satin wedding dress is a challenging task for any future bride, since every woman’s measurements are different.  It is due to this that it is nearly impossible to purchase a satin wedding dress without the need for alterations.  On top of this, satin is a very delicate fabric that needs to be handled with the utmost care. First, the experts at Exclusive Alterations will take your measurements with a fabric tape measure, and then compare them to the dress’ dimensions, and decide then how much alteration is necessary.  We will also make a note of any seams that are too tight or too loose, or of hems that are too long or short. When we adjust the hem, we place pins in an equal line around the hem of the dress.  The satin dress will then be lightly ironed to create creases where the hem line will be.  Steaming is avoided, as this may leave water stains on the dress. Darts are removed from a satin dress by the use of a sea ripper.  This prevents the cloth from jamming the machines on which the alterations are done.  Next a hemmer foot is used to create three-to-four-inch straight stitches. A seam gauge is used to determine how much extra length has to be removed to shorten the hemline of the satin wedding gown. If the dress is too short, it needs to be taken in two or three sizes for proper fitment.  If the waistline is too long, it needs to be taken in three sizes. Satin is a difficult fabric to work with, so the bride-to-be needs to ensure that it fits her nicely before she purchases it.  As a general rule; don’t buy wedding gowns that are too big.  Altering a wedding dress due to it being too large can be expensive in the long run, and if it is satin, even more so. If you want to alter a satin wedding dress, it is vital to be aware of what to expect during the process of alteration.  The expert team at Exclusive Alterations will give you all the needed information about your wedding dress alterations. ...

The perfect-fitting jeans seems like a fairytale, and finding them can be hard. It can be even more disappointing when you have tried on dozens of brands, sizes and models.  We understand that jeans need to fit your figure well, and are delighted to share that a pair of jeans can be altered too. Here is what you need to know about 4 most common types of denim alterations. Hemming If a pair of jeans are too long, it will distort the overall shape of the look.  The fabric might bunch up at the top of your shoes, and you are also more likely to step on the fabric and stumble. If you would like to get your jeans altered, don’t forget to bring the shoes that you usually wear, to ensure that measurements are correct. When we shorten jeans, we use chalk or pins to determine the exact length.  Hemming jeans for more than one or two inches might involve changing the form of the leg, which is tricky when you are working with flared denims or with a bootcut.  Where damaged jeans come into play, they will have to be cut in a manner that looks like it belongs in the style. Internal or inside hems are a good option for individuals who would prefer not to hem their jeans.  Tapering You have found a pair of jeans that fit your waistline nicely, but the thighs are too big.  Or you might have a pair of straight-leg jeans that you would like to change into skinny-fit jeans.  The professional team at Exclusive Alterations can easily do this for you. Baggy Seat Alterations A difficult alteration to make is when the seat is too baggy.  It should be avoided, as it takes time, but if you have failed to locate a pair of jeans with a well-fitting seat, the Exclusive Alterations team are here for you, and you can contact them for more information regarding alterations costs and options. Waist A waistline that is slack usually goes hand in hand with a well-fitting seat.  If you find yourself picking your jeans up numerous times a day, you might want to opt for a tighter pair of trousers instead.  Belts are also an easy answer for this problem, but having the waist altered makes for a more stylish look. Have the waist brought in by a tailor is definitely achievable, but requires a more delicate technique.  Jeans do not have seats or waists that are easily adjusted, and leaves more room for mistakes and less room to let it out.   If you are looking for a professional tailor in London, don’t hesitate to contact the Exclusive Alterations team. ...

When it comes to men's attire, most of your choices are dependent on taste. When choosing a shirt, the perfect collar can make a difference. Here are 6 collars that you can choose from when looking for the right shirt. 1) Point Collars The most common style of men's shirt is the point collar. It is a favourite that is usually worn with a double-breasted suit, but it also works when worn without a tie and unbuttoned. It's a style that never fails to impress and leaves a lasting impression. 2) Spread Collars Known as one of the most versatile looks around, the spread collar was originally designed to accommodate wider knot ties, such as the Windsor knot. An angle of 45 degrees is usually formed, causing shirts, such as the Westwood, to look good with or without a tie. Paired with a blazer and skinny fit trousers, and you’ll be ready for any event. 3) Granddad Collar This collar shirt is seen as giving you the best of both worlds. It gives the tidy impression of a tailored suit, but still leaves an air of informality. For an event where a tie is optional, a granddad collar, like the Tenby red and white, carries and elegance that's looks effortless. It works with a contemporary suit, heritage styling, or even jeans. 4) Pin Collar If you are an individual who enjoys accessorising, then the pin collar shirt is the right choice for you. It was first popular in the early 20th century; these shirts give off a bit of a vintage feel. A shirt like the Lynton, however, lends itself to any aesthetic. It's a look that will hold its own almost anywhere without needing a tie. 5) Revere Collar This collar showcases a flat "v"-form that's normally associated with womenswear. On men it has an effortless aura. It's a casual look that works well with shorts. 6) Penny Collar Another option for casual wear is the penny collar shirt. This option has become fashionable thanks to some recent high-profile period dramas, and is now considered youthful, smart and a tiny bit edgy. A shirt like this doesn't require a tie, nor is it really an option. Still, it's tailored enough to stand its ground at any formal occasion. In conclusion, no matter the event, your choice of collar has an impact on your success. ...

Stripes is something that can be an uncomplicated pattern, but is very versatile, seeing as there are only a handful of situations where no stripe would be suitable.  When it comes to fashion, we refer to stripes as vertical, with horisontal stripes known as hoops. Here are some of the most common striped suits. 1. Pinstripe The name comes from the stripes being about as thick as a pinhead, and produced using one or two yarns. The stripes are evenly spaced out. Traditionally, these suits are associated with bankers and businessmen, with dark suits and light stripes being the norm here. Recently it has become a piece for a more casual look, where you can opt for bright stripes on a dark suit, or a light suit with dark stripes. This style is also a good way to make yourself look both taller and slimmer.2. Chalk stripe Chalk stripes are about as thick as a Chalk line drawn on fabric by a tailor, and are much thicker than that of the pinstriped suit. These thicker lines are bold and widely spaced, so it is also a more informal option where you can play with colour. The Chalk Stripe is not suitable for larger gentleman, as it won't be flattering to the form. You can pair this suit with sweaters, t-shirts, or turtle-necks for a casual feel. 3. Seersucker Seersucker is technically a fabric and not a stripe.  The crumpled appearance of this fabric is produced using a novel weaving technique where some threads are pulled tighter than the rest. This creates a soft, ridged texture, allowing space to created between the skin and fabric, and consequently allows the skin to breathe. It's a cool option for summer suiting. The idea of "business casual" came along with the choice of JP Morgan, an American Bank, not forcing their bankers to wear formal suits when in their building and place of work anymore. The choice was an odd one at the start, with many questioning it and whether it would be seen as professional; now more and more companies are embracing the concept to make business wear not only more comfortable but also more affordable. The basic ingredients for business casual are a navy-blue blazer, a pale blue shirt, a pair of khaki chinos, finished off with leather shoes. How can one man stand out from the rest of it seems like everyone is going for the same look? As is the rule with formal suits, you first need to ensure that the outfit fits you perfectly. No matter the price, a pair of trousers needs to be altered so that they have turn-ups that hug the top of your shoes. You want to make sure you leave a good first impression whether you are sporting a formal suit or business casual attire. Shirts also need to fit your body very well, especially if it is hardly going to be worn underneath a jacket. You should show off your body here - there is no need to be shy! Shoes should be leather-solder loafers or derbies in brown suede or leather to keep the chic look intact. Stick to brown, though, as black shoes will look as though they do not belong. In the spirit of the "casual" part of business casual, you can play with the idea of brown buttons and patch pockets for your jacket. It does not necessarily need to look like a suit jacket, but it does need to be double-breasted. Or upgrade your navy-blue jacket with brown horn buttons and patch pockets for your hips. You can also opt to get some thirties-style trousers in tobacco-brown Irish linen, or khaki cotton. You can then complete the look with a knitted tie if you are feeling rebellious. All of the above items will look and feel better if they are bespoke. Trust the team at Exclusive Alterations to help you get the right business casual look. ...

One of the elements from a wedding that you can use more than once is the suit that the gentlemen wear. You can wear a suit more for more than one occasion, from weddings to formal gatherings at your place of work. An item in any man's wardrobe that breathes new life into it, is the suit. On any wedding day, the bride is the star of the show, with the groom being her co-star. As a part of the bridal party, it is the job of the groomsmen to make the groom shine. Here are a few tips for the groomsmen to compliment the groom. 1) Keep the outfits clean Keep all the outfits impeccable by ensuring that they are clean, by having the suits dry-cleaned before the big day. All stains, dust, and other unsightly issues need to be taken care of. 2) The bridal party's look should complement the wedding theme Outfits, such as suits and bridesmaids' dresses, are normally chosen months in advance of the big day. However, should you have to choose your outfit, you need to ensure that it gives a nod to the overall theme of the wedding. For example, if the groom has chosen the classic black suit for his wedding, then the groomsmen need to salute this in black suits that look similar but are not identical. The groom still needs to stand out. 3) Keep the designs simple As previously said, the groom is one of the stars of the show, and the groomsmen should not distract from his big day. Keep the designs for the groomsmen simple, classic yet modern, along with being styled in the same type of suit as the groom, to create a sense of unity. Don't opt for contrast satin lapels or quirky design elements that will distract from the groom. If you are the groom that has opted for a vibrant check pattern with different colours in your suit cloth, choose one of the colours for your groomsmen's outfits that will be the key for their look. If you do decide to go for a subtle contrast colour, you can be assured that it will give your wedding party a stylish appeal. 4) Have the outfits fitted A suit that fits your body like a glove is one way to be assured of yourself - you will not only look good, but you will also feel good. An off-the-rack suit could look very nice, but then you should have it fitted to commend your body type. You will look great, and your groom will look better because of it as well. Whatever styling choices you have chosen, whether you are the groom or the groomsmen, ensure that the look of the groomsmen elevates the look of the groom. All attention needs to be on the groom for his big day, and as part of the bridal party, you have to ensure that the happy couple looks and feels amazing. Contact the team at Exclusive Alterations if you need advice for your big day. ...

A suit that is well-made and off-the-rack is a good piece of clothing, we do not deny this, but when it comes to the very best fit for your body, opting for a tailor-made suit is the best option.  This will make sure that the suit has the best cut and style that is possible, and it is the only way to ensure that you get the best fit possible. To make sure that you make an informed decision, we have created a short guide for you follow when you purchase a tailor-made suit.  You are guaranteed to make the best choice by following this guide. Set a budget The first thing that you need to keep in mind is your budget.  This will be the deciding factor for what features of your suit you can keep.  It also determines what cut or style you can choose, as some styles of suits are more expensive than others.  However, this does not mean that you cannot get a great suit with a lower budget, it only means that you need to be more selective about what you choose to feature in your suit. Simplicity is vital When you purchase a tailor-made suit, especially if it is your first time, you should stick with the most flexible and easy choices.  Choose from the fundamentals, like the classic navy wool or charcoal grey suits.  These suits are a great choice for nearly any occasion. Choose a flattering fit Each individual’s body is different, and you need to opt for a suit that showcases your best features whilst also hiding any flaws.  For an individual who is lean and tall, a slim fit would be best as long as it doesn’t inhibit your mobility. For an individual with a wider build, you would want to give yourself some extra room in your torso area. This is something that your tailor can easily do for you, as long as you make your preferences known. Your choice of fabric Choose a fabric that will the best fit for your intended use.  If you are looking for a suit for a summer event, choose a fabric that is light and porous, so you can stay cool.  For a winter even, opt for wool or flannel to keep you warm. Choose your buttons A two-buttoned suit jacket is easy enough to pull off, and suited to informal events.  A single-buttoned jacket is reserved for more formal events.  The classic three-button styled is seen to be outdated, but still a good choice for taller gentlemen. Your choice of lapel There are three types of lapels: the peak, the slim lapels and the notch.  The latter is the most common type, whilst peak lapels will give you a sharper look, and slim lapels are for a more modernised look. Remember your shoulders Lightly padded or non-padded shoulders are generally seen as a casual style, and it works well to keep your cool during the summer months.  Thick-padded shoulders are more professional, and usually what executives wear to board meetings. When going to an employment interview for a new position or attending a formal event, a suit is the vital attire that you need to own to further both your career and how you are perceived. Even if a suit costs thousands, an outfit that is ill-fitted or ill-tailored can ruin your chances at making the best first impression. Here are ways to tell if your suit is ill-fitting: Trousers are too long or too short Trousers that are either too short or too long is a common problem amongst suit owners. Pants that are too long will make you look short, and if they are too short, an image of disorganisation will be created. When your pants hit your shoes or the ground, they are too long and will become wrinkled.  If your ankles are exposed, they are too short.  If you already own a pair of long trousers, you can easily take them to a tailor and have them altered.  The best advice, however, is to purchase a pair of pants that fit you from the very beginning.  Your height is not likely to change, so your pants should always fit you like a glove. Jacket shoulders are too loose or too tights When you are perusing the jackets t your local store, ensure that the pads line up with the end of your shoulder.  The coat should be giving you a hug, and not too snugly or uncomfortably.  An extra extension or extreme tightness means that your suit jacket does not fit you properly. You do have the option of tailoring a suit to fit you, although tailors are generally hesitant to do so. Rather than buying a cheap suit that has an improper fit, rather think of a suit as a lifetime investment, and opt for a suit of high quality that fits your body perfectly. Sleeves that are too short or too long Whether your jacket sleeves are too long or too short, neither leaves a good impression of you.  The perfect fit for sleeves is around a quarter-inch to half-an-inch shorter than your inner shirt sleeve.  If your jacket reaches your knuckles, then it will be best for you to get your jacket tailored. Some sleeve cuffs have ornamental buttons, which are admittedly easier to customise.  Functional buttons are a bit harder to tailor, but it is still within the realm of possibility.  In conclusion, think of your wardrobe and outfits as an investment. Don’t make the choice of purchasing a cheaper or bargain suit because it will save you money.  Save yourself the hassle of repairing your suits by investing in a high-quality suit that fits you, will ensure you create the best first impression and leaves you looking stylish at all times.  As the old saying goes – buying cheap is buying expensive. If you are in search of a custom tailor in London, get in touch with us today to see how we can assist you.  The team at Exclusive Alterations have years of experience in creating high-quality, luxury suits. ...

A suit looks its best when the clothing items that it consists of are worn together.  You can’t wear a suit jacket with pants that it didn’t come with or without the suitable dress shirt. Likewise, a suit is not complete without a tie, because the collars and lapels of the dress shirt are frames for the tie.  Furthermore, wearing a tie adds a stylish layer to the visual appeal of your outfit, as well as adding a raised sense of authority.  This is why it is always advised to wear a tie to formal events. If you want to portray more a rebellious or unconventional individual, you can leave out the tie and still look chic in your suit.  This is perfect for events such as cocktail parties, summer weddings, art exhibit openings, fieldwork or emergency meeting.  Politicians use this trick to ensure that they look more approachable to the public. Here are 5 tips on how to look stylish without a tie: Wear a casual suit Classic, dark-coloured suits are the right choice when it comes to business engagements, and not wearing a tie here will make the look seem incomplete.  However, donning suits with more pulsating colours when attending casual events without a tie, makes the act forgivable.  These types of suits also have slimmer lapels and lighter options for fabrics. Wear a more informal shirt Not wearing a tie with your suit draws the attention of onlookers.  Wearing an Oxford, buttoned-down chambray or even a denim shirt ensure that the omission of a tie appears to be an intentional choice.  Choosing patterned fabrics also ensures that you outfit looks more casual. Pay attention to your collar Collars that are floppy underneath your suit jacket make your suit look messy.  That is why we do not advise wearing a shirt with collars that stretch if you are not opting for a tie.  You can keep the vertical orientation of your shirt by starching it before ironing it.  Furthermore, using collar stays or a button-down will also help preserve the shape of the collar. Undo two of the buttons Seeing as a look without a tie is not a buttoned-up look, you have to unbutton one or two buttons at the top of your shirt to project a carefree look and attitude.  In the same breath, donning a V-neck shirt is better than a crewneck, due to the fact that you can hide the V-neck underneath the suit jacket.  Don’t undo more than two button, though, as this will then cause the shirt to lose its purpose. Add more accessories Using other accessories that distract people from the fact that a tie is absent.  You can add a stylish watch or attach a lapel pin to catch the eye.  You can even opt for a pocket square, but here you should use one that is patterned rather than one that is the formal white, as long as a puff hold is used to keep it tucked in. If you want to opt for a more casual look, ensure it fits the occasion.  Contact the team at Exclusive Alterations for advice on a bespoke tailor suit. ...

Bridal lace can transform every wedding dress into a stunning work of art. Here is all you need to know about the top five types of wedding lace. Chantilly Lace Chantilly lace, named after the city in France, is produced by manually twisting and braiding fine silk threads strung on a number of bobbins. It is distinguished by the fine intricacy of its designs, as well as its lightness, and elegant look. Chantilly lace is an all-time fashion infatuation, adored by many premium wedding fashion designers worldwide. Choose a classy design with a silky finish, such as sequined and beaded Chantilly lace with flower appliques. Corded Lace Corded lace is created by outlining lace elements with a heavier or shinier cording. Originally called Alencon lace, it is created by highlighting features in a pattern with a cord, giving these laces a somewhat rough appearance. The cording itself can be quite thin and delicate, emphasising the patterns in the lace design. Alternatively, the cording might be thicker and more voluminous. Embroidered Lace In the couture sector, richly adorned embroidered lace reflects the sparkle and glamour of wedding dress materials. Your fantasy gown may be embellished with sequins, beads, and glittering Swarovski crystals. Choose delicate and silky satin stitch embroidery with a stunning 3-dimensional flower motif to add a romantic flair to your wedding gown. Guipure Lace Guipure lace is one of the most beautiful fabrics for bridal gowns, also known as Venetian Lace. Beautiful guipure flowers may appear to be appliques, yet they are all part of needlework. Continuous motifs are interconnected, resulting in a more elevated design that often includes floral or geometric elements. The pattern is created with a sequence of densely packed embroidered threads applied to a delicate fabric. As with our other varieties of lace, the background fabric is not visible in the finished item. This type of lace can be attached to the bodice, skirt, or fringe of a dress. Lyon Lace Lyon lace is a type of lace made of pure light-weight cotton woven on a lightweight tulle and highlighted with a cord thread. This classic historical lace looks best when paired with lightweight netting and is usually applied in parts to any clothing in need of a sophisticated finish. Lyon lace has a blossoming floral pattern on a beautifully embroidered netting with elegant frills on both edges.  Whatever bridal lace design you select, bear in mind that it should attract attention to your best features without being excessive. Experts at Exclusive Alterations will help you with embellishments, designs, fabrics, and colors to make your wedding dress elegant and unique. ...

Your suit pants create an image, no matter what jacket you decide to wear.  It’s vital to look sharp for job interviews, social events and more.  Don’t forget that creating an excellent first impression is vital, and wrinkled pants will ensure that there is no chance of that. Here are a few tips to ensure that your pants remain wrinkle free, to save yourself any embarrassment in any situation. Wear pants that are the right size Something that most people do not realise, is that pants that are too big are prone to wrinkling.  The reason for this is that the extra lengths of the pants, even if it is just one size bigger, rests on your shoes, causing it to fold.  The solution to this, is to buy a pair of pants that fits your body perfectly.  If you are unsure of which size is best for you, ask your tailor to get your measurements. Wash your pants properly The manner in which you wash your pants will determine whether or not your pants will become wrinkled later during the day.  Whilst no pants are ever really safe from the possibility of becoming wrinkled, it is safe to follow the care lable found on your pants to wash them.  By following these rules, you extend the durability of your pants.  Dry your pants appropriately While most individuals may take special care when they wash their pants, not everyone realise that drying is not simply hanging the clothes on a line or placing them in a dryer.  This is where you should also check your care lable, it will also contain information and instructions on how it should be dried.  Not following these instructions can lead to your pants wrinkling in a way that will create a nightmare for whoever has to iron them later. Have your pants dry-cleaned This is a good choice to keep your pants from wrinkling in the first place, as well as the most effective solution to pants that already have developed plenty of wrinkling.  However, if there is not an available service near you, you can also hang the pants in the bathroom with the shower turned on at the highest heat setting.  The hot steam can be created inside the bathroom, smoothing out the wrinkles in our pants.  Another alternative is to use the steam setting to get the same results, but a lot faster.  Spraying the fabric with a de-wrinkling solution can also decrease the number of wrinkles in your pants. By following the above guide, you can make sure that your pants are wrinkle-free, and remain that way for as long as possible. ...

At Exclusive Alterations, we talk a lot about suits, how they should fit and what the best fit for your body is.  And – while this is important for looking stylish and chic – you should not neglect your accessories.  This elevates your look from simply ‘good enough’ to ‘perfect’. Here are some hints for choosing the best shoes to go with each colour suit. With a black suit With a black suit, the answer is always black shoes.  Wearing brown or navy shoes will look mismatched, akin to wearing black shoes and white socks.  It stands out, but not for any of the right reasons.  There are celebrities that opt for coloured shoes, but we do not recommend that.  There is elegance to wearing a black suit and black shoes. It’s a classic choice that you can never go wrong with. With a navy suit When you have opted for a navy suit, you have freedom with choosing a shoe colour, just like with choosing a shirt colour.  Although the three best options are: black, burgundy or brown.  Since black has already been discussed, we will focus on the other two colours. The suit-shoe combination that you choose, is influenced by the event that you plan to attend.  Brown shoes work better in warmer month, whilst burgundy works better for the fall and winter months. You should keep the colour of your shirt and tie in mind when you choose your shoe colour, and be sure to avoid all-over colour.  That means if you have chosen a brown shirt, choose another colour for your shoes, so that you do not look monotone. Otherwise, you are free to choose.  White trainers also look well with a navy suit.  It’s a versatile suit to look stylish in. With a grey suit Giving guidance on grey suits is a bit of a tricky one, seeing as there are so many shades of grey, making the suit ideal for mixing and matching.  Brown, tan and, for the daring few, oxblood or burgundy are also good choices for shoes. Pro Tip: the lighter that the shade of grey is, the lighter the shade of brown your shoes should be.  With a cream or tan suit When wearing a cream or tan suit, it’s most likely made of linen – meaning that you’re wearing it in warmer weather.  You should also take this into account when choosing your shoe colour. This is one of those instances where black shoes don’t fit.  Instead, opt for light brown or even white shoes.  Or, if you want to catch the eye, go with two-tone shoes. If you are still unsure, trust the team at Exclusive Alterations to guide you in the right look. ...

We have already discussed how your suit jacket should fit, now we take a look at the perfect trouser fit for your suits.  Gentlemen often ignore how their trousers fit, and do not realise that this is just as important for your look. On the rack options often ignore wide leg trousers that some gentlemen need, leaving little other options but to have it tailor-made. Here are some tips on getting the perfect trouser fit for your body: The Waistband The waistband should, ideally, sit only slightly higher than your casual pants.  It is a personal preference for each person, but having it sit between your hips and navel is the best for a sleek look.  Those individuals who prefer trousers that sit higher, should consider pleated trousers to make your hips feel more comfortable.  Your waistband should sit snugly on your body, but not so tight that it pulls and creates horisontal creases.  On another note – if the trousers fit too loosely, your waistband will sag. Seat The seat of your trousers should fit flat and nicely against your posterior.  If it is too tight – horisontal lines will appear across the material and increase the likeliness of an embarrassing split trouser.  If it is too loose – excess material will be baggy at the bottom of the posterior and behind your thighs. The Trouser Leg The cut of your trouser leg should generally be in accordance with that of your jacket.  A slimmer cut on your jacket should match with tapered trousers.  A more traditional cut jacket should be matched with wider, straighter trousers.  Whatever you choose, your trouser leg should frape smoothly with minimal creasing of the fabric.  If it is too tight, the material will pull against your body and there is a risk of tearing or splitting.  If it fits too loosely, the excess material will be untidy and baggy. Length Trousers should fit neatly with no more than one singly soft break at the front of the bottom of the leg.  How can this be achieved?  Through different lengths, only depending on the cut of the trousers.  A traditional cut can, under normal circumstances, be taken down longer.  A tapered cut is more likely to be shortened, so they normally just cover the top of the shoe. Trust the team at Exclusive Alterations to guide you into a perfectly fit suit for your body. ...

There are a few things to check on your list to ensure that your suit looks elegant.  Many people assume that simply because they know their size, and as long as they use those measurements, the suit will fit.  If it were only that simple.  Suits have various cuts, style and construction, and the “one size fits all” rule doesn’t account for body shapes.  This makes finding a suit a bit tricky. Here are things to look at when you fit your suit. Shoulder line Suit finishes on suits come in a variety of options, from soft, to padded to La Spalla Camicia.  Which option you ultimately choose, should take how it will fit your body.  Your shoulder pad’s edge should end neatly in line with end of your shoulder.  This means that your arm will fill out the top of the sleeve, creating a smooth line.  If it too tight – your arm will stretch out the sleeve; too big – your shoulders will hang unnaturally. 2. Lapels  Gap between the chest and the lapels, shows that the jacket is too large.  If the chest panels on your jacket are small, the lapels will bow.  Many think that going for a tight suit is the way to go, but as experienced tailors, we can say that tight is not always right. 3. Sleeve Length As a general rule for sleeves, you should always at least an inch of your shirt cuff when you are in a neutral and relaxed position.  A dash of colour peaking from beneath the end of the jacket cuff will always help you look more stylish. 4. Jacket Length On the topic of jacket length, we look towards the British traditionalists and the Italians.  The British traditionalists prefer a longer finish – clenching your fist and lining up the jacket with your knuckles gives an ideal length.  This looks nicely with a traditionally fitted and style suit. The Italians, on the other hand, prefer a shorter length with a slimmer suit to give a more elegant line to your legs.  As a general rule for the modern suit is to look to choose a length that only cover your trouser seat – with this rule, your style is guaranteed. 5. Buttoning your jacket You should always have the ability to fasten the buttons on your jacket.  A gap of an inch to and inch and half from your stomach to closure.  If it is too tight, the button will pull and create an awkward x-shaped crease in to front of your jacket.  If it is too loose, your jacket will lose its fit and shape.  The button should sit around the part of your body that is widest, which will allow your jacket to fit your body naturally ...

Every gentleman has to have at least one suit in their wardrobe that fits properly and adds confidence to thei persona in any setting. Here is a list of the three suits that are vital for every man to own. The most important thing when you are purchasing a suit, is fit. An expensive suit can be a waste if the shoulder pads extend past your shoulders and your sleeves are touching your knuckles, while an inexpensive suit can appear expensive if it fits your body well. The Wool Navy Suit If you only have a single suit in your wardrobe, ensure that is a single breasted navy wool suit. The colour navy implies professionalism and respectfulness, both for yourself and your audience. Not to mention that the colour compliments everyone's complexion. In this regard, labels are not as important as the quality of the materual used. The Wool Charcoal Suit Much like navy, charcoal is also a very versatile option, and it looks good with brown, tan, and black shoes and accessories, and can be dressed either up or down, depending on the occasion. When you are wearing a two-button suit, you should only button the top button, and never both buttons. If you decide to also purchase a waistcoat, never fasten the bottom button. Dry cleaning can damage your suit, so do this only once in a while. This type of suit also require a proper wooden hanger, not a wire hanger. The Black Suit A classic black suit is something that every gentleman should have in their wardrobe. The benefit of this classic choice, is that it can be worn to black tie weddings, cocktail parties, and even sober gatherings, such as a funeral. For the latter, choose a white shirt and a black tie. Save the patterns, colours and flashy accessories for a more appropriate occasion. ...

Choosing and fitting your wedding dress is one of the many things that a bride looks forward to when a marriage proposal has been done.  It can be stressful and tiring, but it should not be.  It’s a reason to celebrate and have fun! Here are a few tips when it comes to fitting your dress to make sure you get what you want for your big day. Don’t be in a rush Whenever a bride arrives at her fitting with too much stress, either due to another appointment or having to get back to work in less that 30 minutes, the result is not always as it should have been or how the bride wanted it to be.  If you want your wedding gown to fit you like a glove, find the time to book an appointment on a day that is convenient to both yourself and your tailor or seamstress. Don’t do your fitting after a workout If you go for a fitting after a workout, your gown will need to be cleaned before your big day – which is always a big no.  Not only this, but your body will be sweaty and might smell sweaty, the smell can linger on your dress, and the fitting might be difficult to do. Wear your foundation garments on all your fittings Before your first fitting, it is advised that you buy all of your foundation garments and wear to your fittings.  Your foundation garments are your underwear that you intend to wear on the big day – a bra or corset.  You may not notice and major changes in the way your body looks whenever you wear your foundation garments, but they do play a role in the way that the wedding dress fits your body.  From experience, our team can assure you that wearing the wrong bra or corset can affect the way that hem of the dress hangs. If you have decided to wear a crinoline or petticoat, take that to your fitting as well – you want to have a good idea of the complete look for your big day. Take your wedding shoes to your fitting If you have not found your perfect wedding shoes yet, then take a pair of shoes with the same heel height of your ideal shoes.  The height of the heels will affect your posture, and your tailor or seamstress needs to take this into account to make sure that your dress fits you perfectly.  The hem is adjusted to fit your shoes, which is why this part is important in any wedding gown fitting. ...

Having a suit tailor-made for you is one of the best decisions you can make when looking for not only a stylish item to add to your wardrobe, but it is also an investment in your future. Suits have the option of being single-breasted or double-breasted.  While both options look stylish, the most common option is a single-breasted suit.  It has buttons down on one side and button holes on the other side that meet in the middle when you close it. The double-breasted option has sets of buttons on both sides of the suit, with the left side folding over the right side, and is fastened by one or two buttons. A single-breasted blazer or jacket is the staple found in most men’s wardrobes, but a double-breasted version can also look incredible.  When fitted to your body, the double-breasted option secretes sophistication and elegance, but will require you to spend extra time and effort to get the look just right.  This is also, of course, due to the fact that any outfit looks outstanding with added attention to detail and fine tailoring. A bespoke double-breasted blazer will look elegant, as though you are wearing a second skin, and it will ensure you assets are accentuated, whilst your flaws are disguised. This version of the blazer always has peak lapels, thereby completing the superior look.  The original design has six buttons, two that close.  This look is perfect for taller gentleman.  For shorter gentleman, a four or six button option, where only the bottom button closes, is a better choice. When should you wear your statement piece?  It certainly isn’t for everyday use, unless you are always seen on the red carpet.  You should wear it for special occasions, such as a wedding or formal charity event. There is a notion that says “one size fits all” – however, this could not be further from the truth for most people, particularly when it comes to purchasing a suit.  Simply buying a suit from a store in your size range does not do you, or the suit, justice.  There is only one way to look ones best and that is to get your suit tailor made. Here are seven reasons for you to have your suit tailor-made. Presentation establishes a perception of you Wearing a suit that does not fit your body properly, can give the idea that you either lack style or that you do not care what you look like.  To prevent this idea from forming, it is better to have your suit made especially for you. The exact measurements of your body will be taken, and your suit will be altered so that it fits you like a glove, drawing attention to all your best features. Your comfort is important A serious annoyance in your life can be having a piece of ill-fitted clothing.  Think about tight waistbands, button popping open unexpectedly, and, perhaps the worst of all, clothes that rip because they are too tight. The simplest way to combat this problem is to get your suit tailored.  When fitting your suit, ensure that you move around, walk around, stretch and sit in your suit before you leave the tailor.  This guarantees that every inch of your suit works for your body. A good investment A proper suit is not only a stylish item of clothing to own, it is an investment piece – and you certainly want to get your money’s worth for it.  This means that the cost for each time you wear the item will increase.  Since you are tailoring a suit for yourself, your suit will have longevity and you will be able to wear it more often. Something to keep in mind when you have a suit tailor-made, is that the short-term cost will be outweighed by the long-term benefit.  The money that you will save by not having to replace cheaply made suit, is definitely worth it! Give yourself a boost in confidence In all honesty, clothes that do not fit you well does not only look bad, it also makes your feel as though you are less than your best.  You are able to rid yourself of buyers’ remorse, as well as boost your own confidence, by getting your suit tailored. If you look good, you feel good, and a suit that fits you will make you feel like a brand-new person. Potential advancements in your career. When searching for a career advancement, looking the part is half the battle. Nobody wants to advance someone in their career if they do not care what they look like and do not put any effort into their appearance.  One guaranteed way to look the part is to invest in a tailored suit. Having a tailored suit is also a way of saving time when you do not necessarily have the best fashion sense. Let the professionals help you, that is what they are here for, after all! ...

Wedding dress fabrics come in many different varieties and choices, so the bride’s main goal is to find the perfect one that both she and her new husband will love. While some brides choose to have their wedding dresses made from the most expensive materials available, there are plenty of budget-friendly options that still look and feel wonderful. Here is a look at some of the most popular wedding dress fabrics available today: Satin is one of the most elegant, beautiful, and long-lasting fabric choices for wedding dresses. Although many mistake satin (a word derived from Latin meaning shiny) for a form of fiber, it really refers to the finished finish of the gown, as is true for all other fabrics. Satin can either be composed of pure silk fibers or synthetic fibers including nylon, polyester, or lace. The term "veil" refers to a full skirt or shawl that is generally longer than floor length. This type of skirt is often seen on evening wedding dresses, such as prom dresses. A veil also can be used for daytime weddings, although it's more common to see it on evening styles. Other wedding dress fabrics that require the use of veils are: Tulle is made from a vine that blooms tall and beautiful flowers. Tulle comes in a variety of styles including classic romantic, contemporary, and modern. A tulle skirt or gown is often used as an accent piece or for the entire bridal ensemble.   Chiffon is woven silk that has many advantages. It drapes beautifully and can easily go from breezy to formal depending on the weight of the fabric. Many chiffon gowns are quite light, making them appropriate for beach weddings or casual getaways. Chiffon often comes in a variety of patterns including: chenille, toile, paisley, and floral. There are many styles that look great as both an overlay and a backdrop.   Orchid satin is a very delicate fabric that drapes beautifully. It can be used as an overlay or as the whole bridal ensemble. Orchids come in different weights including: ultra-fine, super fine, regular, and heavy. Organza is often used for wedding gowns, although it is also one of the most popular fabrics for cocktail party dresses.   Many brides choose organza as the main fabric for their wedding gowns, since it is extremely delicate and lightweight. It tends to look just as good in a picturesque garden as it does in a glamorous setting. Many brides choose organza covered with lace as a main fabric for their wedding dresses to create a stunning fairy-tale effect. ...

The primary purpose of a wedding dress is to make a statement on your special day. Let's take a closer look at five classic wedding dress styles that are extremely popular in the United Kingdom. What is a Wedding Dress Silhouette? As you start looking for your wedding gown, you'll come across words like design, a-line, form, curves, waist, bust, fit-and-flare, and skirt. These are all related to various wedding gown silhouettes. Some designs are more flattering and popular for particular body forms (e.g., petite, curvy), but since women have various body types, we intend to give you just a general guideline. 5 Most Popular Wedding Dress Silhouettes 1. A-line Silhouette Look through our selection of a-line wedding gowns. French couture designer Christian Dior was the first to adopt the phrase 'a-line silhouette'. However, it was Dior's successor, Yves Saint Laurent, who introduced flared gowns from a fitting shoulder line in his 1958 spring show. 2. Tea Length Silhouette Tea length wedding gowns are ideal for brides who want a retro look. A tea length wedding gown is one that falls straight down to the ground from the knee to around the ankle. The primary aspect of this style is that it seems exquisite while still being extremely feminine. This kind of dress is often composed of organza, chiffon, or satin. It is one of the most popular wedding trends in 2021. 3. Mermaid Silhouette Mermaid silhouette bridal trend seems to have come back on track in 2021. This design is distinguished by its fluted hem and fitted bodice. The mermaid dress fits tightly to the body across the torso and hips and has its unique fairytale flare. The mermaid silhouette is also known as the fishtail silhouette. Mermaid wedding dresses are very popular and make great bridal dresses for the summer months when you want to look elegant and sophisticated. Whether you have a classic hourglass shape, try this on in-store to see if you like how your chest and curves are highlighted. 4. Trumpet Silhouette The trumpet silhouette is a timeless classic that works well in any setting, whether it's a church reception, a garden party, or a simple registry office ceremony. The trumpet shape, like the mermaid silhouette, is body-hugging in all the right places and the trumpet cut flares just below the hip. 5. Sheath or Column Silhouette A sheath wedding gown skims the body and falls to the floor just below the hips. Sheath dresses, also known as column dresses, are slim-fitting gowns with a straight narrow form. The sheath silhouette is a chic and contemporary option. Depending on your preferences, consider adding lace and beading, or keep it minimalist if that is your style. A luxurious cathedral length veil may be used to add drama to a sheath bridal gown. Remember, no matter what type of shape or size your body is, there is always a perfect wedding dress for you. At Exclusive Alterations, we focus on helping brides find their dream dress so that they look and feel comfortable and beautiful on their big day.  ...

Here is all you need to know about the biggest wedding trends of 2021 & 2022. Corsetry The lingerie-style bodice will be popular in 2021 & 2022. Corsetry, as opposed to tie-backs, focuses mainly on bodice boning. Consider rib-skimming lines that draw the eye to the waist, as well as experimenting with intricate fabrics such as delicate tulle and abundant embellishment. Modern technology and developments in shapewear design have made boned bodice comfortable to wear, so you should not be concerned about discomfort if you want to indulge. 2. Ruffles    With the resurgence of larger wedding ceremonies, now is the ideal time to wear a heavily adorned gown. Ruffles will add an exquisite flair and dimension to your gown, turning it into a fairy-tale piece of art, And it doesn't get more maximalist than this frilly, brazenly extra detail. A ruffled skirt is both grandiose and fashionable. If you don't like too much volume, you should consider a simplified silhouette with delicate ruffle details. 3. Floral Motifs While beautiful and picturesque floral motifs are a classic addition to wedding gowns, voluminous details such as three-dimensional flowers and lace give this long-standing trend a delicate update. 4. Off the Shoulder Sleeves Alluring and romantic off-the-shoulder wedding gowns are intended to make a stylish yet ageless bridal statement. Choose a classic silhouette like a slim ball gown or a relaxed fit-and-flare for a graceful feminine flair, then let your delicate off-the-shoulder cap-sleeves create a delicate frame for your shoulders. Laced off-the-shoulder wedding dresses with long sleeves are a popular option for brides who prefer a retro look. A feminine bridal gown looks extremely delicate when matched up with a seductive skintight silhouette and exposed shoulders. Add crystal embellishments and lace motifs for a more opulent look. 5. Square Necklines Square necklines, which were popular in the Renaissance era, have recently made a big comeback. Square necklines are typically matched with sleeveless straps, and they look stunning on gowns made of crisp, structured fabric. The geometric neckline is an ageless classic that accentuates the collarbones and shoulders. This wedding gown trend suits any wedding style. 6. High Slits High slits are elegant, feminine, and extremely fashionable. They have become an eye-catching bridal trend for wedding gowns. This fashionable accent is ideal for making a daring, feminine statement on your wedding day. Wedding gowns with high slits are perfect for open-air ceremonies. 7. Transitional Pieces The two-in-one wedding gowns are becoming increasingly popular. It is evidenced by the abundance of transitional pieces, such as detachable sleeves, capes, overskirts, toppers, coats in designer collections.  Transitional pieces are a perfect addition to any wedding dress. ...

Wedding planning has always been associated with many unspoken rules and regulations to follow. Plush wedding dresses, beautiful venues with hundreds of guests, and traditional church ceremonies to name a few. With the COVID-19 limitations of last year, we witnessed a significant rise in registration office weddings and the trend of brides choosing their modest registry office wedding dresses also reflected this shift. The high street bridal fashion industry has seen a big boost in the last few years. With many different companies developing lines that appeal to brides or brides-to-be, the high street market is overflown with choices for you to consider for your registry office wedding dress. If you are looking for a simple yet traditional registry office look we recommend you stick to these three timeless options with which you can never go wrong. Maxi Registry Office Dresses You may avoid the typical wedding dress look by picking a plain maxi for a civil ceremony. If you plan to have a traditional wedding celebration at a later date, we suggest picking a different look something different for your registry office ceremony to set it apart, perhaps a more ornate lace or tiered pattern. When looking for something with a boho-inspired vibe, try a laced maxi dress. The minimalist cut is combined with lace details and pleated panels to balance out the basic design, while yet being simple and cheap. Midi Registry Office Dresses If you choose a midi dress, we recommend eliminating linen and cotton to make it a little bit more formal. A white guipure lace midi dress with a square neckline is ideal for a registry office event. The square neckline gives the dress a true antique vibe, and the satin ribbon around the waist helps define it. Also, consider a silk-satin halter neck midi dress that's designed to complement the shoulders and the neckline. It also provides the ideal opportunity to flaunt your favorite pair of high heels. Slip Registry Office Dresses  Elegant, classic, and stylish slip gowns are ideal for a minimalist wedding appearance. If you want something more sumptuous, you should choose silk-satin. This little white dress is just right for intimate gatherings. The attractive bias-cut descends to a split skirt, allowing you to show off your wedding shoes. Whatever style you pick choose for your registry office ceremony, keep in mind that your dress should draw attention to your best features without being excessive. The friendly and knowledgeable team at Exclusive Alterations will offer suggestions on embellishments for your simple registry office wedding dress to make it more stylish and unique.  ...

After you have picked the wedding gown of your dreams, the next step is to choose the perfect wedding veil to go with it. If you are having a conventional wedding, a lengthy wedding veil is the ultimate accessory to compliment your bridal look.   Here are the 5 types of lengthy wedding veils that are an integral part of any traditional ceremony.   Waterfall Veil  A waterfall veil is a classical one-layer veil with waterfall-like edges that drop down like a waterfall. The edges of a waterfall-shaped veil are fashioned in such a way that they flow and glide in a lovely back-and-forth motion. A strong edge trim, such as the silk or satin binding, helps to draw attention to this aesthetic effect. The waterfall style is a stunning wedding veil design. It is most suited to lengthier veils, since the longer the veil, the more the lateral contouring can be seen.   Chapel Veil The timeless chapel veil, also known as a congregation veil, exudes romance and grandeur. Being slightly shorter than cathedral wedding veils, they are frequently selected by brides who desire the impression of a trail without actually having one. If your gown doesn't have much of a trail or you want to save the trouble of bustle, a chapel-length veil can provide the illusion of a trail without adding more weight. This style is quite trendy among bohemian brides.   Cathedral Veil   A cathedral wedding veil is the longest veil variety that will give an entirely royal image to any lady who decides to wear one on her special day. A cathedral veil is often adorned with lace around the borders for dimension and density to retain its structure as you are walking down the aisle, adds an amazing fairy-tale flair to your ceremony.   Waltz Veil   A waltz veil is a less traditional wedding veil than a cathedral-length veil since it is slightly shorter in length. This veil style is often referred to as a ballet veil or an ankle-length veil. The names ballerina veil and waltz veil date back refer to times when the newlyweds' dance was an essential part of the ceremony. Since this veil is lighter, you may wear it from the wedding to the reception without fear of stumbling.   Mantilla Veil A mantilla bridal veil adds a classic, elegant accent to your dream wedding day ensemble. This Spanish-style oval veil has a thick lace edging and elaborate decorations flowing down the front, that's generally thrown over the head, surrounding the bride's face. A mantilla veil is a one-tiered veil with no gathers. We stitch a clip to the top of the veil so that it can be placed on top of the head. Mantilla veils are also known as Spanish veils. At Exclusive Alterations, we offer a wide range of wedding veil adjustments, from trimming to adding volume and matching the veil to the style of your dress.  ...

Knowing your body type is essential if you want to find the best wedding dress for your special day. If you understand your body type, you will find the right wedding dress that will accentuate your best features while hiding your flaws. An inappropriate choice of a wedding dress can result in your bridal attire emphasizing the problem areas of your body and you frowning at your wedding day pictures for the rest of your life. Follow our guide below on how to choose the right wedding dress for your body type.   Identify Your Body Type Before choosing wedding dress shapes and styles, you need to find out what your body type is: • Pear – your shoulders are narrower than your hips, and you carry the majority of your weight in your thighs and hips. • Hourglass – your hips and shoulders are roughly the same size, but you have a clearly delineated waist. • Apple – you carry your weight in the middle of the body. Apples have good body proportions, but their weight is concentrated around their waist. People with this body type are more likely to have wide shoulders and back, as well as slender legs. • Athletic – slender athletic body type is characterized by relatively narrow hips, a slim waist, and well-defined shoulders. • Full-chested - you have a curvy body, full breasts, and round hips. • Once you know your body shape, look for a wedding dress that can accentuate your positive features.   Hourglass Body Type • Corset style or mermaid wedding dresses are made to accentuate your natural curves. For hourglass brides, a comfortable fit-and-flare wedding gown is also a stunning option. • If a ball gown wedding dress appeals to you, choose one with a structured bodice and a sumptuous skirt to highlight your hourglass body shape silhouette. • Do not choose loose-fitting wedding dresses, which tend to hide your natural shape. Pear Body Type • Find the ideal wedding dress for your body type by focusing on the bodice: ornaments and specifics to accentuate your midsection, which helps to accentuate your waist • Ball gown wedding dresses suit many body types, but we believe they are an ideal choice for a pear-shaped body. • If you want to draw attention to your best features, show off your hips.   Athletic Body Type • If you are a bride with an athletic body type, find a sexy silhouette like a slimming A-line or fit-and-flare wedding dress. • Work with angles: a unique neckline, swirls of beading and embellishments, and a tiered skirt help to add visual interest to your silhouette. • Show off your toned arms and shoulders with a halter top or strapless wedding dress. • Opt for a full feminine skirt, as with a classic ball gown wedding dress, which can help add some more curves to your frame. It will make your hips appear wider, and balance out the top half of your figure.   Full-Chested Body Type • If you have a full-chested figure, look for wedding dresses with wider straps or sleeves to help support your bust and conceal bra straps. • When looking for the ideal wedding dress for your body type, consider the accentuated neckline. A plunging, portrait, or off-the-shoulder neckline can conceal strapless bras while also flattering your natural curves. • Opt for a wedding dress with a high back or bustier to conceal the bra. Simply wear nude garments underneath for covert support.   Apple Body Type • Choose a dress with a high waist that sits just below the bust with a thinner skirt. The high waistline draws attention away from your midsection and toward your upper body parts, hiding problem areas. • Choose V-necklines to make your shoulders appear narrower and to show off some cleavage. • Open necklines balance and accentuate wider shoulders, as well as the bust. Ball gowns are a great option for apples because they create a subtle contour around your bust area, emphasizing your waist. At Exclusive Alterations London, we understand the desire for perfection, especially on such an important day. We will assist you in finding the dress that ideally suits your body type and will customize your wedding gown according to your preferences....

After you have found your perfect wedding dress, it is time to consider adding decorations, commonly known as embellishments. There are plenty of embellishments available in a variety of shapes, colors, textures, sizes, and patterns to add a personal charm to your wedding gown. Here is all you need to know about the most popular wedding gown embellishments. Appliques Appliques are fabric cutouts sewn or glued onto garments by designers. Sometimes they have beading on them, but more often than not, they have lace or patterns made of silk ribbons or threads. Appliques add dimension to a plunging neckline, an open back, or a ruffled skirt. Flower appliques may be added to the garment to produce a wide variety of styles. The size, shape, and color of the flowers all have a significant influence on their aesthetic appeal. Classic floral elements accentuate your femininity and add a romantic flair to your wedding day look. Typically, appliques are white and are stitched onto transparent or nude-colored fabric on the gown. If you prefer a different look, you may consult Richard to understand the alternatives available with your specific dress.  2. Embroidery   Embroidery suits any silhouette or fabric. Embroidered decorations add a modern touch to traditional designs, and create dimension giving the garment a contemporary, one-of-a-kind appearance. Edging is a popular type of embroidery commonly seen on the hem of the gown or the bottom of the sleeves. 3.   Beads   Beading is often sewn close together to form shapes such as flowers, leaves, or other elements. Beads come in a range of shapes and sizes, allowing us to create a design that is as subtle or elaborate as you like. Consider adding them to the neckline or waistline for just a touch of decoration. However, if you want your dress to look truly spectacular, you need to opt for a fully beaded gown. White beading gives your dress a delicate flair, but women who wish to be more adventurous might use colorful beads to match their wedding colors.  4. Pearls Pearls are renowned wedding gemstones, so there could hardly be anything more suitable for adorning your wedding gown.   You may ornament your whole bodice with pearls to achieve a luxurious look, or randomly attach them to your dress from the top to the hemline. Alternatively, you can accessories your dress with a brooch, a belt, or a necklace.     5.   Sequins Small sequins will add a subtle shimmer to your outfit, making it look more romantic. However, you should go with the larger sequins if you truly want to make a statement. They might even be a darker colour than your bridal gown.  6. Paillettes Paillettes are significantly bigger than sequins and are attached to the dress via holes at the top of each disc. Sequins are stitched into a garment, whereas paillettes are bigger and generally dangle off the cloth, adding movement as well as glitter. 7. Crystals Crystals give a lovely glitter to an ivory or cream fabric, and they come in a variety of sizes and shades, allowing you to add or remove sparkle as desired. They are usually placed to the veil at equal intervals, although they can also be applied in patterns.   Swarovski crystals add glitter, while topaz crystals bring a beautiful radiant sheen to the fabric of the dress. Alternatively, if you want some glitter but don't want to spend a lot of money, go for nice little sequins rather than the more costly crystals. 8.   Ribbons  Ribbons are another simple way to adorn a plain bridal gown. You've probably noticed that some wedding gowns use ribbons instead of waistbands. A silk ribbon will add some extra charm and festive flair to the garment. If you are going to use a ribbon to adorn your waist by choosing a ribbon the same tone as the dress will keep its simple but elegant. 9.   Border Trims If your wedding gown appears unfinished, you may wish to add a border. Border trim is lace, ribbon, fringe, or beading on the hem of a dress. Many women believe trim gives them the exquisite look they desire. These ornamental borders usually come in the form of ruffles, scallops, flowers, and braids. 10.   Fringe Fringe is created by cutting a piece of cloth into numerous tiny strands.  Brides who like a boho look may often add fringe to their sleeves or veil. When used throughout the garment, fringe may give it a bohemian flair. Whatever style or arrangement of embellishments you pick, keep in mind that they should draw attention to your best features without being excessive. Friendly and knowledgeable team at Exclusive Alterations will offer suggestions on embellishments, designs, fabrics, and colors to make your wedding gown elegant and unique. ...
